Father of Indian PSUs Dr V Krishnamurthy passes away at 97
- Tamil Nadu-born Indian civil servant Dr. V. Krishnamurthy (Venkataraman Krishnamurthy), known as the “Father of Public sector undertakings (PSUs) in India”, has passed away.
- He was 97.
- Dr. Krishnamurthy had served as the Chairman and CEO of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), and GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL).
- With his leadership and successful contribution Krishnamurthy transformed BHEL, SAIL, GAIL, MUL, into the most profit making industry in India and globally.
- He was honored with Padma Shri in 1973, Padma Bhushan in 1986 and, the Padma Vibhushan in 2007.
