Cabinet approves ₹17,000 crore for PLI scheme 2.0 for IT hardware
The Union Government has notified the phase second of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware.
The total budgetary outlay for the second phase is of Rs 17,000 crore, to be offered over six years.
This is more than double the incentives compared to the first phase of the scheme.
The decision aims at boosting domestic manufacturing of hi-tech electronics so that India may become the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.
The PLI scheme 1.0 for IT Hardware was approved in February 2021 by the government with an outlay of₹7,350 crore covering the production of laptops, tablets, All-in-One PCs and servers .
