Indian-Origin UK Army officer Harpreet Chandi becomes first women of colour to trek solo to South Pole
Captain Harpreet Chandi, an Indian-origin British Sikh Army officer has created history by becoming the first woman of colour to complete a solo unsupported expedition to the South Pole.
The 32-year-old Chandi completed the 700 miles (1,127 kilometres) trek in 40 days in temperatures of minus 50 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of around 60mph.
Currently based in London, Capt. Chandi is also a physiotherapist.
