Indian-Origin UK Army officer Harpreet Chandi becomes first women of colour to trek solo to South Pole

  • Captain Harpreet Chandi, an Indian-origin British Sikh Army officer has created history by becoming the first woman of colour to complete a solo unsupported expedition to the South Pole.
  • The 32-year-old Chandi completed the 700 miles (1,127 kilometres) trek in 40 days in temperatures of minus 50 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of around 60mph.
  • Currently based in London, Capt. Chandi is also a physiotherapist.
