Mirabai Chanu wins India’s first gold at 2022 Birmingham CWG in women’s 49kg
Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu helped India to get its first gold medal at 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, as she won the top spot in the 49kg clean and jerk event.
Chanu lifted total 201kg (88kg in snatch and 113kg in clean and jerk).
This is the third medal for India at the games.
Mauritian weightlifter Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa won silver as she lifted 172kg (76kg+96kg).
Hannah Kaminski of Canada 171 kg (74kg+97kg) claimed bronze..
