PM Modi Chairs 7th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the seventh meeting of the Niti Aayog Governing Council on August 07, 2022 in New Delhi.
  • This was the first in-person assembly of the Council since July 2019. The last two meetings were held through videoconferencing owing to covid.
  • The agenda of the meeting included:
    1. crop diversification and achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds and pulses and agri-communities;
    2. implementation of the National Education Policy-school education;
    3. implementation of the National Education Policy-higher education;
    4. urban governance.
  • The meeting was attended by 23 Chief Ministers, 3 Lieutenant Governors and 2 Administrators and Union ministers.
  • The governing council of Niti Aayog comprises the Prime Minister of India; Chief Ministers of all the states and union territories with the legislature; Lt Governors of other UTs; Ex-Officio Members; Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog; Full-Time Members, NITI Aayog; and Union Ministers as Special Invitees.
  • The prime minister is the Chairman of NITI Aayog.
