Supreme Court forms 8 member panel to oversee degree verification of advocates; head – Justice BS Chauhan
The Supreme Court (SC) has constituted a high powered committee headed by former SC judge Justice BS Chauhan to oversee the process of verification of degree certificates of practising advocates across the country and weed out the fake ones.
The degree, enrollment certificate, educational certificate of all lawyers will be verified.
The committee shall have 8 members. They are
Justice Chauhan – former Allahabad High Court judge,
Justice Arun Tandon – former Delhi High Court
Chief Justice Rajendra Menon,
Senior Advocates Rakesh Dwivedi and Maninder Singh
Three other members will be nominated by the Bar Council of India (BCI)
The order was issued by a bench which had Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala.
