The World NGO Day is celebrated on February 27 every year.
It is an international day dedicated to recognize, celebrate and honour all non-governmental and nonprofit organizations, and the people behind them that contribute to the society all year around.
The Day was proposed and recognised in April 17, 2010 by 12 countries of the Baltic Sea NGO Forum, which were, Belarus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Norway and Sweden).
Further, on April 23, 2012 the World NGO Day was officially accepted by the Baltic Sea NGO Forum Committee.
It was marked for the first time by UN, EU, Nordic Council leaders and international organizations in 2014.
