Cheetah Sasha, relocated From Namibia to MP’s Kuno National Park, passes away
The Cheetah named Sasha, who was part of the first batch of cheetahs flown Namibia into Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park (KNP), on September 17, 2022, has passed away.
Sasha passed away after developing a kidney infection in January 2023.
She was one of five female cheetahs among 8 cheetahs, flown in from Namibia.
She was also one of two five-year-old female big cats brought.
It must be remembered that 8 Namibian cheetahs, including five females and three males were brought to the KNP as part of a cheetah reintroduction programme, in September 2022, to revive the species’ population in India, where they became extinct more than 70 years ago.
