Cheetah Sasha, relocated From Namibia to MP’s Kuno National Park, passes away

  • The Cheetah named Sasha, who was part of the first batch of cheetahs flown Namibia into Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park (KNP), on September 17, 2022, has passed away.
  • Sasha passed away after developing a kidney infection in January 2023.
  • She was one of five female cheetahs among 8 cheetahs, flown in from Namibia.
  • She was also one of two five-year-old female big cats brought.
  • It must be remembered that 8 Namibian cheetahs, including five females and three males were brought to the KNP as part of a cheetah reintroduction programme, in September 2022, to revive the species’ population in India, where they became extinct more than 70 years ago.
