India elected as member of UN Statistical Commission for 4-year term

• India has been elected to the UN Statistical Commission for a period of four-year. India won the election by securing 46 out of 53 votes.
• India’s term will begin from January 01, 2024.

• The UN Statistical Commission (UNSC) is the highest statistical body of the United Nations.
• The commission has 24 member countries of the United Nations. The term of office of members is four years.
• Member countries are elected by the United Nations Economic and Social Council on the basis of an equitable geographical distribution.
