Kochi becomes country’s first city to get water metro project
Kochi has become India’s first city to have a water metro project, after the first in a series of battery-powered electric boats was launched in the city recently.
The new project will be operated by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd.
The project will have an integrated water transport system with 15 identified routes and a fleet of 78 fast, electrically propelled hybrid ferries plying to 38 jetties.
It will connect 10 islands along the identified network of routes that span 76 km.
