- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh on January 02, 2022.
- This will be the first sports university in Uttar Pradesh.
- The university are being established at Salawa and Kaili villages of Sardhana town in Meerut.
- The estimated cost of setting up the University is about Rs.700 crore.
