RBI to issue first-ever Sovereign Green Bonds worth Rs 16,000 crore
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will be issuing first-ever Sovereign Green Bonds worth 160 billion in rupees ($1.93 billion or 16,000 crore in rupees) in the current financial year..
- The sovereign green bonds will be issued in two tranches.
- The first auction of sovereign green bonds worth Rs 8,000 crore will take place on January 25, 2023. This will include Rs 4,000 crore worth of 5-year sovereign green bonds and Rs 4,000 crore worth of 10-year sovereign green bonds.
- The second auction worth Rs 8,000 crore is scheduled for February 9, 2023. It also consists of Rs 4,000 crore worth of 5-year sovereign green bonds and Rs 4,000 crore worth of 10-year sovereign green debt.
- RBI will auction the sovereign green bonds using the uniform price method.
