Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates Kalpana Chawla Research Centre at Chandigarh University
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated Kalpana Chawla Centre for Research in Space Science & Technology at Chandigarh University on January 10, 2022.
- The new space science research centre has been named after Indian-origin American astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who lost her life in the 2003 Columbia shuttle disaster.
- The centre will train students in space science, satellite development and meeting future challenges in space research.
- The Minister also launched a Rs 10 crore Scholarship Scheme for the wards of Defence Personnel of the three Services.
