West Bengal to have 7 new districts; total district tally raised to 30
- The West Bengal Government, led-by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has announced 7 new districts for the state.
- With the launch of the 7 new districts, the total number of districts in West Bengal has increased to 30.
- Earlier there were 23 districts in the state.
List of new districts are given below:
- Sunderban
- Ichhemati
- Ranaghat
- Bishnupur
- Jangipur
- Behrampur.
- One more district will be named in the Basirhat region.
